Some campaigns also require you to be actively involved in the forum for bonus free cryptocurrency.

Normally you are required to complete an airdrop registration form; a link is provided in the relevant airdrop listing. You will need a cryptocurrency wallet to receive most airdrops. A cryptocurrency wallet is where you store your cryptocurrency funds. When you create a cryptocurrency wallet, you will be given a public address which is your account number. This public address can only be used to receive deposits and can be shared with others from whom you are expecting a payment. You will also be given a private key which is a backup of your wallet and required if you lose access to your account. On some occasions you are also given a mnemonic passphrase, and this also acts like a private key. Because cryptocurrency has a value, personally identifiable information is required, just like a bank would require when you open a new account. Depending on the airdrop this will be specified in the airdrop listing or during the registration process. Most often your free cryptocurrency will be distributed after the campaign (IEO, ICO) ends. Sometimes you are requested to hold (hodl) your cryptocurrency for a certain period before withdrawing.
